Server Maintenance Schedules

Server Maintenance Schedules

Summary

To ensure the health of the gotomyerp server infrastructure, all gotomyerp servers go through a regular maintenance schedule.
Below are some general times that apply, which should be kept in mind to avoid any interruption of work, or potential data loss or corruption:

Nightly

What happens?

On a nightly basis, every customer server will go down for about 10 minutes, at 1:00AM, in the local server's timezone.
Some exceptions exist for some customers who may have special arrangements.

How does this affect me?

When the server goes down for this maintenance window, any active sessions will be interrupted, and will need to be re-established after login.
Active transactions that may have been interrupted will be lost. Possibly data corruption could occur if those transactions are not cleanly closed out.
It is very important to be aware of the above schedule to avoid any data corruption to your ERP system

Monday/Wednesday/Friday

What happens?

Additional backups of core infrastructure server happen less frequently. While most of them will not cause any interruption to connections, some will.
The same time frame also applies, so as to coincide with the customer server backups, so as to not to cause multiple downtimes during the night.

How does this affect me?

If this backup occurs on its own, an active connection would be interrupted, but when the server comes back up, the use may connected and resume their session.
Since most of these schedules coincide with the nightly server backups, always follow the warning above related to the nightly backups.

Every 3rd Saturday of the Month

What happens?

Windows updates that require a reboot get applied to the whole infrastructure. This schedule happens on Saturday starting at 2:00am through 5:00am.

How does this affect me?

Be mindful of this time as it will also cause servers to reboot once updates have been applied.
Additional updates are consistently being applied to servers throughout the rest of the month, but do not cause any downtime as a result.

Additional Scheduled Maintenance

Any down-times outside of the windows above will be communicated to customers ahead of time with sufficient time to prepare. Such downtimes would also be planned off-business hours to minimize any interruption to production.
